Dr. Parto Teherani-Krönner is associate professor of Gender & Globalization at von Humboldt University, Berlin. She is an international expert on culinary traditions and cultural habits associated with meals preparation. In Europe and Africa, Dr. Teherani-Krönner conducted extensive studies and fieldworks on “meal security”. How gender and meal preparation are linked to food security and food safety.
Dr. Parto Teherani-Krönner analysed the gender dynamics in food value chains in Africa. The gendered effects of supply chain modernization (shift from subsistence production to market or export oriented production) and its implications for poverty, local sustainable livelihoods, and food safety. Considering the contribution of women in agriculture and horticulture, understanding gender dynamics is critical for the future of complex interrelationships between food production, the management of resources and social relations.
